NBA’s wildest night: Fights, Dodgeball, an Own-basket, and Shorts torn down the Butt

NBA's wildest night

Last night was one of the NBA’s wildest nights in history. The night featured fights, dodgeball, an own basket, and shorts that were torn down the butt. Trey Murphy III, Anthony Davis, Jaden McDaniels, and Russell Westbrook were all part of the night and were at the center of attention.

During the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA preseason game at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Russell Westbrook and Jaden McDaniels got into an odd altercation. After Westbrook shoved McDaniels, the two players shocked everyone by briefly trading some balls. Westbrook and McDaniels received technical fouls from the officials.

The sight of Anthony Davis playing with his shorts ripped across his buttocks during the Lakers-Timberwolves game was the other odd sight from the game. The Miami Heat beat the New Orleans Pelicans in a preseason game, with superb play from Willy Hernangomez. Trey Murphy III’s unfortunate own basket garnered a lot of attention.

Several recordings of Westbrook behaving oddly in pregame team huddles as well as appearing to ignore Lakers rookie Patrick Beverley. The images were from when he signaled for a huddle on a defensive possession in the third quarter and were shared on social media by viewers.

Beverley made it possible for LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Lonnie Walker IV to enter the huddle. However, Westbrook was not included. The nine-time All-Star compared the pregame scene, where Westbrook was wiping his face with a towel. That was before joining his teammates on the court, one that he had been playing “in the NBA for years.”

“I think they just cut the video. Obviously, the Internet is going to take it and run with whatever they need to run with,” Westbrook said to reporters. “I’ve been doing the same ritual since I been in the league. I’m pretty sure you guys [reporters] can attest to that.”
