Warriors Exploring Trade Options: Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Chris Paul on the Table

With the NBA trade deadline looming just days away, the Golden State Warriors, currently sitting in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 19-24 record, are actively considering potential moves to reshape their roster. According to insights from The Athletic’s Shams Charania on FanDuel’s “Run It Back,” the Warriors are open to Trade Options discussions involving key players, excluding the untouchable Stephen Curry.

Charania shed light on the Warriors’ approach, stating, “Everyone is on the table except for Steph Curry.” While young talents like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Poziemski are deemed essential to the team’s long-term plans and considered part of the core moving forward, the Warriors are reportedly willing to entertain trade inquiries for veterans Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, and surprisingly, Klay Thompson.

Klay Thompson, a cornerstone of the Warriors, has spent his entire NBA career with the organization and expressed a desire to retire with the team that drafted him in 2011. Despite a challenging start to the season marked by inconsistency, Thompson has shown glimpses of his former self in recent games. The 33-year-old guard is averaging 17.6 points, shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc, along with contributing 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 42 games.

On the other hand, Andrew Wiggins, who faced early-season struggles resulting in a temporary removal from the starting lineup, continues to navigate through a challenging season. Wiggins is registering career lows in multiple statistical categories, posting 12.3 points per game, shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 31 percent from three-point range, with 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 39 games.

While the Warriors have demonstrated improved team play, they find themselves on the fringes of the playoff picture, necessitating significant adjustments to revive their postseason hopes. The clock is ticking for the Warriors to make strategic decisions and potentially reshape their roster before the trade deadline. The next 10 days will be crucial in determining whether the Warriors Trade Options for major changes to enhance their competitiveness in the Western Conference.
