The NBA takes action over Spencer Dinwiddie’s NSFW insult claims

The NBA is investigating the allegations made by Spencer Dinwiddie that referee Tony Brothers insulted him through his Dallas Mavericks teammates. Meanwhile, to recall, Dinwiddie told the media on Friday, following the Mavs’ victory against the Toronto Raptors, that Brothers had called him a “b***h a** motherf****r.” Moreover, the seasoned guard claimed it occurred after he was assessed a technical foul during play, and the referee addressed his teammates rather than him directly.

“As a man, I would like to say I’m sorry, first and foremost. And secondarily, I would like to say, not only would I like my money back, but I would like not to be called a ‘b–ch a– motherf—er’ to my teammate,” Dinwiddie remarked in a news conference following their 111-110 victory. “So, if there’s anybody that feels that way about me — I’m not naming names — they can address me personally face to face because no swear words were used in the direction of anybody personally.”

Right now, the NBA is “reviewing” the accusation by Dinwiddie, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

What the NBA will do about the situation is still up in the air. There’s little chance the NBA will not do anything if this is proven to be true. Since it violates the league’s core principles, it is a significant infraction. Meanwhile, Spencer Dinwiddie and the rest of the Mavs’ fan base will have to wait until the NBA conducts its inquiry, though, for the time being.
