Terrence Butler drexel university, a basketball passed away in an apartment on campus on Wednesday morning, according to the university.

After Butler passed away on school property, the institution was able to identify him. His death’s cause has not been made public.

Terrence Butler Drexel University, a student in the  College of Engineering, excelled both on the court and in the classroom. Butler went to Drexel, according to a statement FOX 5 DC acquired. “numerous activities and organizations at Drexel,” with many people knowing him on campus.

“On behalf of the entire Drexel community, we extend our deepest sympathy to Terrence’s family, friends, and teammates,” Drexel President John Fry wrote in a statement.

Butler, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound forward for the Dragons, was about to begin his junior season after serving as a reserve since arriving on campus for his rookie year in 2021–2022.

Injury setbacks in his first two seasons prevented him from contributing more to Drexel’s team.

Butler played in seven Dragons games last year, appearing in 4.4 minutes per game while averaging nine total rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

In the previous year’s Colonial Athletic Association conference, in which Drexel competed, he was also nominated to the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

Butler was originally from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, but was now a resident of the DMV. At Bishop McNamara, a high school with a renowned basketball program, he was a standout player.
