The Veteran player Flared up her Knee against the New York Liberty
Sylvia Fowles was absent from the Minnesota Lynx’s 86-79 loss against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday night. The experienced Veteran missed the match due to a knee injury. The loss put them further back in the standings for the WNBA playoffs.
Fowles first hurt her knee on June 9 when she played against the New York Liberty. She has managed it well ever since she came back on June 23. The Lynx star’s season averages have been 15 points and 9.8 rebounds. The outburst occurs as the Lynx try to secure their 12th straight playoff position.
Hiedeman led Connecticut with five assists and five 3-pointers made (19-9). Thomas ended the game with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Jones pulled down 8 rebounds. Jones scored 11 points in the opening period to help the Sun lead 42-32 at the break.
With 4:40 remaining in the third quarter, Moriah Jefferson made a basket and 1 of 2 free throws to give Minnesota a 47-46 lead. However, DeWanna Bonner hit a jumper, made one of her two free throw attempts, Bria Hartley made a 3-pointer, and Bonner added a basket to cap an 8-0 rally for the Sun, who never trailed again.
For the Sun, who have won three straight games and five out of six, Courtney Williams scored 12 points. A total of nine points, eight assists, six rebounds, and five steals were recorded by Bonner. With 17 points, Aerial Powers outscored Minnesota (10-19). Newcomer Nikolina Milic scored 14 points before fouling out, and Rachel Banham scored 11 points after coming off the bench.
