Steph Curry Names NBA Star Poised to Lead the League

When Steph Curry made his NBA debut in 2009 as a slender 21-year-old from Davidson, prominent figures like Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, and the late Kobe Bryant, who would later become Hall of Famers, still held sway. Steph Curry Names NBA Star Poised to Lead the League and praises the young talent in NBA as well.

Throughout the years, they witnessed Curry’s progression, not only as an exceptional shooter but arguably as one of the preeminent point guards in basketball history.

Now, as Curry begins his 15th NBA season at 35 years old, he’s assessing the field for the next standout player who will assume a leadership role and shape the league’s trajectory for the upcoming decade. While conversing on the “Gil’s Arena” podcast with Gilbert Arenas, he mentioned various names, including Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics and Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, one name stood out prominently.

“Luka is the individual on the cusp of achieving those accomplishments,” Curry shared with Arenas. “What he’s all about as a player. That threshold of how you just crack through — I hope it’s not now — but when you play against him, you can feel it.”

Even though Dončić is already in his sixth NBA season, he is just 24 years old. Over the last four seasons, he has earned recognition as an All-Star and an All-NBA selection. While he hasn’t progressed beyond the second round of the playoffs in three of those seasons, Dončić led the Dallas Mavericks to the Western Conference finals in 2022, where the Warriors defeated them in five games.

Throughout that series, Dončić averaged 32 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game.

With Dončić and Kyrie Irving potentially forming a one-two punch for the Mavericks in the next two years, several aspects need addressing. Regardless of Irving’s involvement, Curry envisions that Dončić will become a driving force in the Western Conference.

“There’s a lot of young talent, man,”  he acknowledged as Steph Curry Names NBA Star Poised to Lead the League. “In that aspect, the league’s future holds promise.

“I just hope it’s not too soon because we still got a lot to do.”
