Klay Thompson’s Commitment to Staying with the Warriors. The team, with a new look, is preparing for the 2023-24 season but retains the core group that has led them to four championships in the last seven seasons. While Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have contracts keeping them together until at least 2025-26, Klay Thompson’s contract is expiring, and he hasn’t yet agreed to an extension. Nevertheless, he has no intention of leaving the team.

Thompson expressed his loyalty, emphasizing the rarity of playing for a single franchise in professional sports. He values the pride and support of Warriors fans and Northern California residents. Thompson has been with the Warriors since he was drafted 11th overall in 2011, contributing to their dynasty.

Despite missing two seasons due to injuries, Thompson ranks fourth in the NBA for most three-pointers (2,123) since his debut. He returned to the court impressively, leading the league with 301 made triples last season, shooting at a 41.2% accuracy rate. Thompson is aware of the significance of this achievement, becoming the third player in NBA history to make over 300 shots from beyond the arc in a season after recovering from ACL and Achilles injuries.

Thompson also reflected on his fatigue and the need to rely on teammates and strategy for efficient scoring. He admitted to feeling drained after watching his subpar performance during the Warriors’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the previous NBA Playoffs.

While Thompson’s long-term future with the team remains uncertain, the Warriors’ recent moves, such as trading Jordan Poole and bringing in Chris Paul, hint at considering Thompson’s role in their decisions. Players like Green and Andrew Wiggins accepted slightly discounted deals in the offseason, and Thompson might follow suit.

For now, Thompson’s primary focus is on the upcoming season, and he’s confident in his physical condition for opening night.
