This accolade encompasses regular-season games throughout October and November of the 2023-24 season.
Sengun’s nomination signifies a remarkable feat for the Houston Rockets, making him the franchise’s first player nominated for this honour since December 2020 and January 2021, a time frame notably marked by the departure of former Rockets icon James Harden and the subsequent initiation of a team rebuild.
Following Harden’s exit, Sengun became one of the foundational pieces acquired by the Rockets in the 2021 NBA draft. Since joining the team, he’s shown substantial growth and potential as a cornerstone for Houston’s next era of basketball.
Across 16 games during the award’s evaluation period, the 21-year-old centre showcased his impact by averaging an impressive team-high of 21 points, shooting efficiently at 56.3% from the field, along with contributing 8.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, all while logging an average of 32.6 minutes on the court.
