3-Time NBA Champion Agrees to Join Sixers as Per Reports

In the midst of ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Sixers’ James Harden trade situation, the Philadelphia 76ers have made significant additions to their roster with the addition of a 3-Time NBA champion, aiming to support Joel Embiid and his teammates in the upcoming season.

On Tuesday night, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Sixers have welcomed back Danny Green, a familiar face to the City of Brotherly Love. Green has signed a one-year deal with the team, addressing the need for additional wing depth following the departures of Shake Milton, Jalen McDaniels, and Georges Niang.

Danny Green 3-Time NBA champion brings a wealth of experience, having played for the Sixers from 2020 to 2022 and winning three NBA championships with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and Los Angeles Lakers. He also reunites with his former head coach, Nick Nurse.

However, there are questions about Green’s performance for the upcoming 2023-24 season, especially considering his recovery from a significant injury during the 2022 NBA playoffs, where he tore both his ACL and LCL. In the 2022-23 season, Green played only 11 regular season games, splitting time between the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers. The 36-year-old veteran displayed glimpses of his sharpshooting abilities, averaging 5.5 points with a 43.2 percent three-point shooting rate. Unfortunately, his impact waned in the playoffs, particularly during the Cavs’ five-game series loss to the New York Knicks, where he averaged just 10 minutes per game and struggled with a 20 percent shooting accuracy from the field.
