The journey toward the FIBA World Cup involves the USA Basketball Men’s National Team engaging in a series of five exhibition games.

Commencing their final preparations for the impending FIBA World Cup, the USA Basketball Men’s National Team secured a commanding 117-74 victory over Puerto Rico. This triumph marked the initiation of a sequence of five exhibition games.

In the FIBA world cup Leading the charge for Team USA was Anthony Edwards, who contributed 15 points. Jalen Brunson showcased his prowess with an impressive double-double performance, accumulating 11 points and 12 rebounds. Cam Johnson, a formidable presence off the bench, tallied 15 points, while Tyrese Haliburton made a notable impact, contributing 12 assists to the team’s effort.

This game also signals the conclusion of Team USA’s customary training camp held in Las Vegas, as the team now prepares for its overseas journey. The forthcoming international stretch will encompass matches against Slovenia, Spain, Greece, and Germany, all scheduled within an eight-day span. The contests against Slovenia and Spain are set to take place in Malaga, Spain, while the battles against Greece and Germany will unfold in Abu Dhabi.

The exhibition game results and the forthcoming schedule are as follows:
  • Monday, Aug. 7: USA 117, Puerto Rico 74
  • Saturday, Aug. 12: Slovenia (3:30 p.m. ET, FS1)
  • Sunday, Aug. 13: Spain (3:30 p.m. ET, Fox)
  • Friday, Aug. 18: Greece (12 p.m. ET, FS1)
  • Sunday, Aug. 20: Germany (12 p.m. ET, Fox)
Team USA’s path in the FIBA world cup will lead them to the Philippines for the commencement of the World Cup group stage. Their journey includes matchups against New Zealand on Aug. 26, followed by clashes with Greece on Aug. 28 and Jordan on Aug. 30.

With aspirations of redemption, the team is determined to bounce back from a seventh-place finish in the 2019 World Cup – a performance that marked their lowest ranking across 15 significant tournaments since the integration of NBA players into USA Basketball’s participation in the 1992 Olympics.
