New York Knicks Injury Update: Brunson Questionable, Anunoby Nearing Return

The New York Knicks are currently facing an injury crisis with four out of their five starters sidelined. However, there’s some promising news on the horizon regarding the return of Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby.

Brunson, who has missed one game due to a knee injury sustained early in a recent match against the Cavs, underwent an MRI which revealed no serious damage, with New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau labelling it as a bruise. He participated in practice on Thursday and is now listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Magic, with strong indications pointing towards his potential return.

Meanwhile, Anunoby, who underwent elbow surgery in early February to address a loose bone fragment, has progressed to participating in full-contact five-on-five practice sessions and is now listed as day-to-day. While his return for the game against the Magic remains uncertain, there’s optimism that he could feature in the upcoming games against the Sixers.

Anunoby’s impact on the Knicks was notable during his initial games following the trade with Toronto, with the team outscoring opponents significantly while on the court. His absence since late January, alongside injuries to key players like Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson, has been felt by the team, resulting in a subpar record.

Randle, who is still in the recovery phase from a shoulder injury, has progressed to light contact in his workouts, according to reports. Similarly, there’s optimism surrounding Robinson’s potential return in April before the playoffs, with reports indicating positive progress in his rehabilitation.

Despite the positive developments on the injury front, the Knicks cannot afford to be complacent, given the tight competition in the Eastern Conference standings. With the possibility of landing in the Play-In tournament looming, the timely return of Brunson and Anunoby is crucial for the team’s postseason aspirations.
