Marcus Osmond Smart is an American professional basketball player, currently playing for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Mother of Smart, Camellia Smart, died of myelodysplastic syndrome on September 16, 2018. During his college career, Smart averaged 15.1 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5 assists in his final year.

Smart was taken with the sixth overall choice in the 2014 NBA draught after playing college basketball for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Throughout his NBA career, he has been a member of the Celtics. He began his Celtics career as a backup point guard before beginning games on a regular basis in 2018 and eventually became the starting point guard in 2021.

Smart is noted for his hustling plays, which include diving for lost balls and charging. Smart is widely regarded as one of the most versatile and dependable defenders in the NBA due to his combative personality, tenacity, quick hands, and great basketball IQ. He was selected NBA Defensive Player of the Year for the 2021–22 season, becoming only the fifth guard in NBA history to do so. Smart has also been selected three times to the NBA All-Defensive First Team.
