Los Angeles Clippers' P.J. Tucker Unhappy with Reduced Role, Potential Trade on the Horizon

The Los Angeles Clippers have been on an upswing lately, achieving a 7-3 record in their last 10 games following the acquisition of James Harden. However, discontent brews within the team as veteran forward P.J.      Tucker reportedly voices frustration over his diminishing role, prompting discussions between him and the Clippers regarding his fit within the squad or a possible trade.

P.J. Tucker a seasoned player, has found himself sidelined in the team’s recent five games, averaging a career-low of just over 14 minutes per game. His inclusion in the trade that brought Harden to the Clippers hasn’t led to a defined role for him, with the team favoring younger players over his experience. While Tucker has been supportive of the younger talent, he’s seeking more substantial playing time, a departure from his established role as a reliable 3-and-D player, notably with championship-contending teams like the Heat, Bucks, and Rockets.

His performance in Los Angeles Clippers’ hasn’t lived up to expectations either, shooting only 27.3% from 3-point range and scoring 14 points in the 12 games he’s played this season. Should an agreement on his role within the Clippers fail to materialize, both sides seem open to exploring a potential trade. However, given his underwhelming performance, any trade involving Tucker might not yield significant returns. Alternatively, a buyout of his contract could pave the way for him to join another contender, though the Clippers might take time to weigh their options before committing to such a move.

As this situation unfolds, the possibility of Tucker becoming available through either a buyout or trade has piqued the interest of several teams eager to assess if he still holds value as a player.
