Liberty Scores 13 three-pointers to win comprehensively over the Sun’s

The Liberty defeated the Connecticut Sun 81-77 on Wednesday night because to Stefanie Dolson’s 16 points, including one of New York’s 13 3-pointers with 1:29 remaining. Sabrina Ionescu added 11 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.

New York scored 51 points in the first half, a season-high, while shooting 48.7 percent overall and 10 of 21 from outside the arc. In the first half, six different New York players, including each starter, made a 3-point shot. The Liberty shot 13 of 32 from beyond the arc to end with a 44.9 percent overall percentage.

Midway in the third quarter, Sami Whitcomb sank her fourth 3-pointer to increase New York’s advantage to 65-54 and conclude a 7-0 run.

Whitcomb and Natasha Howard both had 14 points for New York, and Marine Johannes added 11. (7-10). Ionescu’s streak of 36 consecutive baskets was broken when she missed a free shot with 8.7 seconds remaining.

For Connecticut, Courtney Williams scored 16 points (12-6). Each of Jonquel Jones, Brionna Jones, and DeWanna Bonner scored twelve points, and Natisha Hiedeman chipped in with eleven.

Injuries

No Jocelyn Willoughby or Betnijah Laney. Rebecca Allen is doing the required procedures in the concussion protocol and won’t be allowed to return to the court for a while. After damaging the ACL in her right knee, Jasmine Thomas will miss the entire season.
