James and Durant have consistently been two of the NBA’s top players. They have also clashed three times in the NBA Finals. When James was a member of the Miami Heat and Durant was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2012, the Heat defeated the Thunder to win the NBA Championship.

That was James’ first professional victory.

When James was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Durant was for the Golden State Warriors, they fought twice more in the NBA Finals. In 2017 and 2018, Durant and the Warriors defeated them and won back-to-back championships. Durant received the Finals MVP Award in both championships.

James currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, who just finished a difficult season in which they finished 33-49. Both the play-in tournament and the NBA Playoffs were missed. The next year, James will begin his fifth season with the Lakers and 20th overall in the NBA.

Durant, however, has just ended his second campaign with the Brooklyn Nets. He moved there in 2019, however owing to an injury, he did not play the first year. This year, the Boston Celtics swept them in the playoffs, and Durant has also been the subject of numerous trade rumors. He asked the Nets for a trade, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, who wrote about it on June 30.
