The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have announced the commencement of the expanded third season of the Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League. The league is set to engage more than 1,300 youth aged 11-14 from schools across Abu Dhabi and, for the first time.

Draft Event Highlights

The Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League draft event took place on January 27 at the NYU Abu Dhabi campus, graced by the presence of DCT Abu Dhabi Chairman, H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, NBA Legends James Worthy, and LaMarcus Aldridge. Each participating school was assigned an NBA team, receiving team-branded jerseys. Engaging in basketball development clinics and skills challenges led by Worthy and Aldridge.

Season Details and Finals

The League will tip off on February 5, with games scheduled to culminate in the third Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League Finals on May 5. The league’s expansion to Al Ain reflects a commitment to reaching more children across the emirate.

DCT Abu Dhabi’s Commitment

H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, expressed the organization’s commitment to youth empowerment and community development. The collaboration with the NBA aims to develop the next generation of players in the UAE. It aligning with the vision of building a brighter and more prosperous future.
