However, these two teams have been discussing a Harden trade for a considerable time without any resolution. Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported that it’s becoming increasingly likely that Harden will be part of the Sixers when the season begins next Thursday against the Bucks. This is because the Clippers are unwilling to include Terance Mann or meet the additional draft capital demands set by Daryl Morey in their trade offer.

On October 5, Sam Amick of The Athletic revealed that L.A.’s offer for Harden included an unprotected first-round pick, a pick swap, and players, believed to be Marcus Morris and Robert Covington. However, Philadelphia is seeking a higher asking price, including multiple first-round draft picks and Mann.

Amick also noted that the Clippers are attempting to trade their 2028 first-round pick to secure more picks, enhancing their offer for Harden. Nevertheless, if Morey insists on obtaining Mann along with multiple picks, a compromise must be reached, or Harden’s trade will not materialize.

Currently, it seems that the latter is the case, raising the question of whether Harden will indeed play for the Sixers on the opening night against the Bucks. During the preseason, he hasn’t caused the distraction he was rumored to create, mainly because he hasn’t been actively participating.

As reported by Shams Charania, Harden has missed the 76ers’ three preseason games, skipped a shoot-around, and has only engaged in one five-on-five live scrimmage in the two weeks since training camp began.
