Biggest Winners and Losers from 2024 NBA Playoffs Opening Weekend

The 2024 NBA playoffs were an incredibly exciting opening pass for both the greatest contributors and the worst-performing teams. The NBA playoffs lit up the courts, full of fascinating games and marvelous performances. Here are the biggest winners and losers from the action-packed 2024 NBA Playoffs Opening Weekend:

Loser: Magic’s Offense

The playoff battle against the Cleveland Cavaliers saw the Orlando Magics finish poorly in offensive position, posting disappointing averages in their opening game. Banchero’s strong showing notwithstanding, the club couldn’t round up their game following a weak shooting display, and trouble shots within the paint.

Winner: Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards was mind-blowing to all the basketball lovers for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he was more of a scorer than the veterans of the National Basketball Association, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. He came with a soul-pleasing statement, like Edwards showed in front of the big crowd, and he proved that he was ready to shine.

Loser: Philadelphia’s Rebounding

The Philadelphia 76ers campaign was burdened with a serious problem of crashing the offensive glass and they were overwhelmed by the New York Knicks. It was challenging for the Sixers when Joel Embiid played less than 100%, which allowed the other side to dominate in rebounding.

Winner: Nikola Jokić

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić exhibited his superstar talent, proving beyond a doubt that he could certainly wear the crown as the Most Valuable Player in the NBA and lead his team to victory over the Lakers. The young big man put on a show with his twin tower-like influence on both sides of the floor and it was clearer why he was among the best in the league.

Loser: Miami Optimism

The Miami Heat suffered an unfortunate defeat to the mighty challenger, the Boston Celtics, emphasizing their team’s striking difference with the green team. Staying without Jimmy Butler, the Heat had the hard work to be done and lost their targets to Boston.

Winner: James Harden

Although the Los Angeles Clippers played without Kawhi Leonard, they had a great shooting guard on their team who deserves special recognition for his brilliant play—this is James Harden. Harden’s a great match. He led the Clippers to victory over the Dallas Mavericks, which was a clear indication of his scoring and playmaking skills.

Loser: Pacers’ Golden Opportunity

The Indiana Pacers missed a golden opportunity to steal a win against the Milwaukee Bucks, despite Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence. Damian Lillard’s explosive first-half performance put the Pacers in a tough spot, highlighting their missed chance.

Winner: OKC’s Resilience

The Oklahoma City Thunder showed resilience in their hard-fought victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite facing a strong challenge, OKC maintained composure and secured a crucial win to start their playoff campaign.

As the NBA playoffs progress, these winners and losers will continue to shape the narrative of the postseason, providing fans with thrilling moments and unexpected outcomes.
