Atlanta Dream Beats the Dallas Wings, to Finally End Their Losing Streak

The Atlanta Dream defeated the Dallas Wings 80-75 on Tuesday night to end a four-game losing run behind 18 points from Maya Caldwell and 16 points and 8 rebounds from Rhyne Howard.

With the victory, Atlanta (8-8) matched its win total from the previous year.

Atlanta led 77-72 after Aari McDonald went into the lane and made a floater. With 29.8 seconds left, Marina Mabrey scored a deep 3-pointer to cut the Dallas lead to 79-75, but she missed the follow-up shot after Howard made one free throw.

For Atlanta, McDonald scored a total of 15 points, while Cheyenne Parker scored 14.

After finishing on a 10-2 run over the final three minutes, Parker scored a 3-pointer just before the halftime horn to increase Atlanta’s advantage to 51-40. Caldwell, who was signed on Monday, added 10 points to Howard’s 15 in the opening frame.

With 4:19 left in the third, Atlanta had a 67-56 lead against Dallas, but the rest of the period saw Atlanta scoreless as Dallas scored the next 10. Dallas (8-9) was led by Allisha Gray’s 18 points. Teaira McCowan and Arike Ogunbowale both scored 14.
