The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and FanDuel Group, its betting partner, have announced a new multi-year extension of their partnership. As part of this new agreement, Flutter Entertainment will become the official sportsbook and daily fantasy partner of the WNBA.

In 2017, FanDuel became the first major fantasy provider to offer a dedicated game for the North American Basketball League. This marked the company’s first partnership with a women’s sports property. Now, as part of the new agreement, the WNBA’s official daily fantasy sports game will continue to be run by FanDuel. Additionally, it will acquire permission to use official marks like highlights on all of its gambling platforms. Moreover, the WNBA content will be available on FanDuel’s fantasy platform, as well as the recently launched FanDuel TV linear channel and FanDuel+ streaming service.

As part of the new agreement, FanDuel betting odds will also be displayed on the WNBA’s digital channels. In the past year, WNBA betting counts have increased by 270% at FanDuel’s retail sportsbook locations, and the handle has increased by 10%.

The Chief Executive of FanDuel, Amy Howe, said, “FanDuel has made a concerted effort to support sports equity. We are tangibly acting to elevate female athletes, and one important way to do that is by growing strategic partnerships with an organization that is the true pioneer in the space – the WNBA.

“This new deal allows FanDuel to build and promote a true sports ecosystem around women’s professional basketball including highlights now on FanDuel TV.”

Meanwhile, the WNBA commissioner, Cathy Engelbert commented, “We continue to see increased interest from a broadening fan base in the WNBA. Fans are seeking more ways to engage with our game, and FanDuel has been a great partner in growing its offering to meet that demand, as shown by our partnership renewal.

“In the seasons ahead, we look forward to building on this strong partnership and working with FanDuel to introduce increased offerings as part of our focus on new and innovative ways to drive fan engagement and enhance the fan experience.”
