Eight months after they became engaged, Maya Jama and Ben Simmons are apparently no longer together. The basketball player, 26, and the British broadcaster, 28, were claimed to have had difficulty juggling their demanding schedules and maintaining a long-distance relationship because Maya lives in London and Ben is based in Brooklyn, New York.
According to New York Post, the couple thought long about their relationship and decided to call it quits, despite having a deep affection for each other. “It’s been a difficult time for them. While they both care for each other so much, they truly gave it their all and realize that they just come from two different worlds. They now understand they don’t have the time they thought to dedicate to this relationship,” a source close to the couple told The Post.
While Jama is located in the UK and preparing for the next TV and modeling seasons, Simmons is in Brooklyn getting ready for the NBA season.
‘After many long nights and hours of heartfelt talks, they finally realized as much as they love each other, their nonstop careers and endless travel have made it incredibly impossible to make it work,’ the source added.

When contacted by a renowned website, Maya’s spokeswoman declined to comment. The representative for Ben has not yet replied. The rumors coincide with Maya’s 28th birthday celebration in Ibiza while she was on a girls’ trip.
The presenter, who is considered a front-runner to host the upcoming season of Love Island, has been posting pictures of her sun-soaked vacation since she arrived on the party island two weeks ago. Ben is thought to have stayed in New York.
Just a few weeks after Ben and Jama denied rumors of a breakup, new allegations of one have surfaced. According to a source, the couple’s relationship suffered after Maya made the decision to prioritize her job. Ben, though, appeared to respond as he posted a sweet throwback photo of the two together in black and white on his Instagram Stories.
The famous TV presenter went as far as to post a message on Instagram to deny the rumors. ‘Stop believing sources in papers plz,’ she tweeted, a day after the breakup report came out.
